The Teaching School Hubs program offers an alternative model of teacher training that provides Education Trainees (Initial Teacher Education students) with an immersive school based experience enabling them to gain an understanding of what it means to be an educator in the Independent sector.

Through the Teaching School Hubs program, initial teacher education students are employed for a minimum one day per week in a Hub School for the full school year. Whilst completing a university degree and it’s required professional experience placements, Education Trainees are provided with additional supports and professional learning from both the Independent Schools NSW program team and Hub School in which they are working.

Why be part of this program?

  • Broaden your teaching experience and skills in an authentic and impactful way.
  • Work collaboratively with a trained Mentor Teacher to apply your university learning in a supportive environment.
  • Build networks and connections with Mentor Teachers and other Education Trainees across Hub Schools.
  • Gain substantial experience and knowledge of school practices and processes while being employed in a school.
  • Engage in the LINC program (Learning, Insight, Network, Connect) and be supported by the Teaching School Hubs program team.
  • Enhance skills in reflecting and gathering evidence on your practice aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
  • Experience a range of contexts, cultures and philosophies across the Independent sector.
  • This opportunity is available for initial teacher education students progressing through a Bachelor or Masters degree qualification (Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary).
