Position Details

Finance Officer


This is a part-time ongoing position 4 days per week (44 weeks per annum), commencing on 18 May 2026 (or as soon as practicable).

St Jude’s Catholic School is a single-stream Catholic primary school catering for families in the Langford and surrounding areas. We have a strong connection with the Lynwood/Langford Parish. Our school is a welcoming and nurturing community where committed and professional staff work in partnership with supportive parents to provide the best possible outcomes for students. We also provide a Virtual EAL/D academic program, alongside our regular classrooms.

We are seeking a suitably qualified Finance Officer to support the Principal and leadership team in the effective management of the school’s finances. This is an important role within our school community, and we are looking for someone who is not only highly capable, but also approachable, collaborative, and who brings a positive, cheerful, and good-natured approach to their work, with a willingness to be part of a friendly and supportive team.

The role involves a combination of regular financial tasks across the week, month, and year. The Finance Officer utilises the Administration of Schools (AOS) financial system. Should the appointee be new to working in CEWA, appropriate training will be provided to support their transition.

The successful applicant will be appropriately qualified and/or experienced, demonstrate enthusiasm and the ability to provide expertise in bookkeeping. They will be able to assist the Principal, while supporting and respecting the ethos of the school and its environment.

Selection Criteria

• A strong commitment to Catholic Education.
• A positive and friendly approach, with a good sense of humour.
• Extensive experience in bookkeeping.
• Experience in financial procedures including accounts receivable, accounts payable, Business Activity Statements, and general ledger processing.
• Sound knowledge and demonstrated ability of relevant accrual accounting practices. 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to prioritise tasks, respond to change and to meet deadlines in a professional manner.
• Advanced computer skills, including financial systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet applications.

Qualifications Required

• A relevant qualification in Accounting, Business or a related field would be an advantage, but is not essential.
• Extensive experience with financial or bookkeeping functions.
• Experience in a school environment would be an advantage but is not essential. 
• Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (or willingness to attain).
• Working With Children Check.
• A current National Police History Check as issued by the Department of Education WA.
