Position Details

Social Worker


Liwara Catholic Primary School is a double stream school in Greenwood. The school caters for 470 students in a co-educational setting from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. Liwara Catholic Primary School  staff are committed to providing a child-focussed, holisitic Catholic education. A school-based Out of School Hours Care service and Instrumental Tuition is also available to our families. 

We are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and passionate Social Worker who will join and work with our dedicated and collaborative staff to support students, families and staff at Liwara Catholic Primary School. This is a temporary, part-time Social Worker position up to 0.6 FTE.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will:
•    Partnering with students, families and key staff to enhance student well-being.
•    Creating and designing well-being presentations to support and upskill the school community.
•    Adhering to policy and procedure in the delivery of student support services.
•    Prioritising and advocating for the well-being of students; prioritising a culture of child safety with the School and consistently applying the principles and practices of the CEWA Childsafe Framework.
•    Working in collaboration with key stakeholders to develop and facilitate preventative programs; exploring, networking and enhancing relations with internal parties and external organisations to support the delivery of programs.
•    Proactively communicating with key stakeholders to build on the delivery of individual and collective student well-being programs, including active contribution in relevant meetings.
•    Delivering a best practice approach to intervention, including individual and collective counselling methodologies. 

Qualifications Required

•    Relevant Social Worker Qualification eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (i.e. accredited Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work with minimum of 1000 hours of supervised field education) 
•    Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (or willingness to attain)
•    Working With Children Check
•    A current National Police History Check as issued by the Department of Education Western Australia must also be included. The appropriate Criminal History Record Check form is available from the Department of Education website.
