ICT Systems Administrator

The role
The ICT Systems Administrator is a key member of the ICT team, responsible for managing and maintaining the School’s core systems and infrastructure and providing high-level technical support across the School community.
This role acts as a senior escalation point for complex issues, assists with network, systems and software-based projects, and contributes to the development of technology standards, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives. You will oversee hardware and software platforms, manage ICT assets across their lifecycle, and ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect School operations, staff and students.
Key responsibilities (summary)
- Manage and improve ICT infrastructure (network, server platforms and core systems) and contribute to architecture/standards.
- Provide senior technical escalation support and assist with cross-school ICT projects.
- Administer key platforms including Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
- Support School systems including the LMS (Canvas) and SIS (Compass).
- Manage backups, restores and resilience activities (including participation in failover testing).
- Maintain asset registers and manage technology lifecycle value across ICT and classroom technology.
- Monitor, assess and manage cyber/security and risk controls with appropriate documentation and record keeping.
- Establish and support service expectations (SLAs) and drive service improvement through strong stakeholder communication.

Essential experience / capability
- Demonstrated experience administering and supporting complex ICT systems in an education, enterprise, or multi-site environment.
- Strong capability across infrastructure and systems operations (server/network administration and platform administration).
- Proven troubleshooting depth and ability to resolve complex incidents and problems as an escalation point.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace (or equivalent), with a security- and risk-aware mindset.
- Strong documentation discipline (procedures, changes, and operational record keeping).
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear options, risks and recommendations.
Highly regarded
- Experience supporting LMS/SIS platforms (Canvas, Compass) and/or system integrations and data workflows (e.g., Python, SQL).
- Critical thinking and lateral problem solving skills that result in dynamic implementations of robust solutions.
