Karratha SHS is an independent public school for students from Years 7 to 12. We pride ourselves on delivering quality education to a diverse population of approximately 1270 students who live in Karratha and surrounding towns. Our well-maintained facilities create an inviting and inclusive environment for all students. Our diverse team of educators, range from enthusiastic graduates to Level 3 classroom teachers and Senior teachers. Our Health and Physical Education (HPE) department is located in the Karratha Leisureplex and our students benefit from a co-location arrangement with the City of Karratha.

The Role
The successful applicant should display strong professional knowledge, effective teaching practices, and relevant experience to deliver an engaging and meaningful secondary school curriculum. Teaching practices should align with the Whole School Instructional Model, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all learning areas.
Our ideal teacher will be dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment, offering meaningful learning opportunities that empower students to reach their full potential. Knowledge of a Positive Behaviour Support whole-school framework is desired.
Strong interpersonal skills are highly regarded, as the role involves close collaboration with students, staff, and the wider school community. The successful appllicant should display a commitment to professional growth by challenging traditional methods, embracing innovation, and reflecting on their practice to improve outcomes.
Parts of the role as the Generalist Teacher includes supporting and supervising students with online learning, liaising with the School of Isolated and Distance Education and the Gifted and Talented Online programs to support Karratha SHS students with their learning. Knowledge of online learning platforms used by the Department of Education is highly desirable, as is the ability to communicate professionally with teachers outside of the school.
Additionally, the successful applicant may be required to teach in various learning areas to support the business needs of the school. The ability to be flexible with regards to teaching in different learning areas as and when required is advantageous.
