  • Part-Time (approx. 0.8 to 1.0 FTE), Replacement Contract

About the Opportunity 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Food and Textiles Technology & Child Studies teacher to join us at Gleeson College. You’ll be working in our brand new, purpose-built kitchens and textiles facilities, designed to support high-quality, contemporary teaching and learning.

Your Responsibilities: 

Teachers at Gleeson College are committed to the belief that all students can be thriving people, capable learners and leaders for God's world, and work to ensure that students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to thrive in a rapidly changing and complex world.

As a Teacher at Gleeson College, you will:

  • Work collaboratively with College leaders, colleagues, and families.
  • Plan and conduct appropriate activities to provide a balanced program of teaching, engaging students to develop knowledge, skills and attributes to become capable learners, and providing opportunities to observe, question and investigate.
  • Establish structures and processes to enable a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students, tailoring your teaching to meet the needs of students with a diverse range of experiences and aspirations.
  • Have an excellent understanding and use of Restorative Practices, Trauma-aware practices and effective strategies to assist students to self-regulate and develop skills of personal responsibility and positive well-being.
  • Actively contribute to the Catholic ethos of the College, and support and represent the College community as outlined in the Gleeson 10 and Gleeson Staff 5.

 

About You: 

  • Are committed to professional development and life-long learning.
  • Are able to develop positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Have an understanding and commitment to the ethos of Catholic schools.
  • Have acquired and maintain your Teacher’s Registration.
  • Are available to undergo our screening process, which includes a Working with Children Check, E-Screen, Applicant Declaration Form and completed RRHAN-EC training. 

Qualifications and experience in teaching a combination of Food Technology, Textiles and/or Child Studies, including up to Year 12, and a willingness to teach Religious Education and in other learning areas, will be highly regarded.
