Position Details

Social Worker


Our Lady of Lourdes and St Denis School invites suitable applicants to apply for a part time, temporary Social Worker position. This position will commence May 11, 2026 and continue through to the conclusion of the 2026 school year. The position is a 0.6 role, equally split across both schools. 

Our Lady of Lourdes School (OLOL) located in Nollamara, is a multicultural, co-educational primary school catering for approximately 240 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. Dedicated and professional staff, together with parents and the parish, work collaboratively to nurture a social environment where students are safe, respected and supported. OLOL provides a broad, balanced and developmentally appropriate curriculum focussing on the needs of our students. At OLOL, we strive to 'Make Jesus Real' by working together to instil in the students the values of belief, harmony and responsibility.

St Denis School is a Catholic school within the Joondanna Parish. It is a single stream co-educational primary school with an enrolment of 253 students from Pre-Kindy to Year Six. The professional staff of the school, collaborating with an involved and connected parent community, support the student’s learning in all aspects of the Australian Curriculum, with Religious Education as the foremost learning area. The Making Jesus Real way of life is firmly embedded within the school community. There is a strong early intervention program featuring the St Denis wrap around health services.

Selection Criteria


Duties will include, but are not limited to: 
• Work professionally and cooperatively with the leadership team and with staff. 
• Counsel students and families. Previous experience working with young people and families is desirable. 
• Liaise and assist with referrals to outside agencies. 
• Develop positive, trusting and professional relationships with staff, students and families.
• Promote well-being at all levels of Our Lady of Lourdes & St Denis community. 
• Conduct whole class workshops, delivering class programs to assist teachers in the classroom.
• Support and provide pastoral care for staff. 
• Maintain case files and records. 
• Respond to crisis situations such as mental health and child abuse emergencies. 
• Develop plans and strategies to improve students’ academic performance and social development.

Qualifications Required

• An appropriate tertiary qualification - preferably a degree in Social Work or similar.
• Knowledge of programs – Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum, URSTRONG, Berry Street Education Model, Kimochis (highly desirable).
