Details: Arawang Primary School is seeking a proactive Business Manager to join their school leadership team. This pivotal role is essential to our school community and improvement agenda, ensuring a safe and positive environment where students thrive. The Business Manager will support the principal and collaborate with the leadership team and community to enhance student outcomes.

Key responsibilities include strategic planning, financial and facilities management, human resources, communications and stakeholder engagement, procurement and contract administration, as well as compliance, risk management, and governance. The Business Manager will oversee school operations and ensure compliance with ACT Education Directorate requirements.

The successful candidate will provide strategic advice to the principal, manage daily and long-term operations, and drive continuous service improvement. They will lead and manage support and administration staff, set priorities, monitor workflow, and develop school-based procedures.

Given the dynamic nature of educational settings, the ideal candidate must excel in prioritisation and workflow management in line with Directorate policies. Exceptional communication and liaison skills are crucial for engaging with various stakeholders. Eligibility/Other requirements:

  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP). Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.   • Asbestos awareness card - Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required before commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT

Highly Desirable:

  • Qualification or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance or
  • Experience in a business-related role and financial qualifications and/or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Knowledge of Xero and Sentral packages
  • First Aid qualification. A First Aid Certificate or a willingness to undertake appropriate training.

Note: A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
