This dynamic role is a central component of the School Leadership Team, overseeing school operations and ensuring compliance with ACT Education Directorate requirements.
The Business Manager plays a crucial role in the school community, supporting the school improvement agenda and creating a safe, positive environment for students. This position involves close collaboration with the Principal and the School Leadership Team to enhance student outcomes.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategic initiatives, overseeing budgeting and financial planning, managing facilities, and handling HR functions such as staff development and performance management. The Business Manager will also foster effective communication with stakeholders, manage procurement and contracts, and ensure legislative compliance while managing risks.
The ideal candidate will excel in prioritisation and workflow monitoring, adhering to Directorate policies and procedures. Exceptional communication, leadership and liaison skills are essential for engaging with various stakeholders. If you meet these qualifications, we look forward to your application.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
- Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required before commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT
Highly Desirable:
- Qualifications or equivalent in Business Administration or Finance,
- Experience in a business-related role and relevant financial experience.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Knowledge of Xero and Sentral packages
- First Aid qualification. A First Aid Certificate or a willingness to undertake appropriate training.
Note: This is a temporary position available 10 May 2026 until 16 October 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
