The Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC) is a distinctive Department of Education school situated within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre in Wacol. Catering to young people aged 10-18, BYETC provides a specialised educational environment that supports students to build foundational knowledge, develop practical skills, and strengthen the values required for positive decision-making and long-term success.

At BYETC, education extends well beyond the traditional classroom. Our committed and highly skilled team works collaboratively to foster resilience, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose in every student. Through individualised support and targeted programs, teachers play a pivotal role in helping young people re-engage with learning and make meaningful, constructive choices for their future.

Operating 48 weeks per year, BYETC offers a structured and professionally rewarding teaching environment. Staff receive the same leave entitlements as those in mainstream settings, with scheduled breaks aligned to operational requirements rather than standard school holiday periods.

This is a unique opportunity for educators seeking to make a genuine and lasting impact. BYETC welcomes passionate professionals who are committed to inclusive education and student transformation. We encourage prospective applicants to connect with us to learn more about how our programs are changing lives through education and training.
