About the Role
Brigidine College St Ives is seeking an exceptional Teacher Librarian to operate across three interconnected capacities: as a curriculum contributor, an information and educational technology specialist, and an information manager — partnering with staff across all key learning areas to embed information literacy and digital citizenship into the heart of our curriculum.
This is a temporary part-time 12-month position with up to 0.8 FTE (negotiable)
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Heads of Department and classroom teachers to embed information literacy, research skills and digital citizenship across all subjects and year groups.
- Oversee the daily administration of library systems including Oliver Softlink, LibGuides and ClickView, maintaining collections to SCIS cataloguing standards.
- Promote and advise on educational technologies — including Microsoft Education products and Canvas (the College's LMS) — to enrich teaching and learning.
- Lead library events and community programs such as Book Week, author talks, book clubs and reading challenges.
- Implement academic integrity programs, including All My Own Work, Turnitin and Harvard referencing conventions.
- Teach engaging library-based lessons that build students' capacity to use information critically and ethically, including AI and web-based sources.
- Support students in independent and HSC research, guiding access to databases, primary sources and digital research tools.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- ALIA-accredited postgraduate qualification in Teacher Librarianship (e.g. MEdTL or equivalent).
- Current NSW teacher accreditation (NESA) and a valid NSW Working with Children Check.
- Thorough knowledge of the NSW Curriculum and contemporary secondary teaching and learning practices.
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering information literacy and research skills programs with measurable learning outcomes.
- Proficiency with Library Management Systems (Oliver, LibGuides) and familiarity with digital databases, eResources and emerging educational technologies.
- Strong working knowledge of Canvas, OneNote and Microsoft 365 products.
- Proven ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to integrate library programs into curriculum delivery.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy school environment.
