The Public Schools Planning Division is seeking a Female Boarding Supervisor to join Merredin Residential College.
The Role
The Boarding Supervisor role involves providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for students living away from home while they complete their secondary education. The position is responsible for supervising students and ensuring their wellbeing through effective duty of care practices in accordance with relevant legislation and Department policies. The role promotes respectful behaviour, supports multicultural diversity and ensures that any concerns related to student wellbeing, safety, or maintenance are promptly reported to senior staff.
The role also focuses on supporting students’ academic, social, emotional and physical development by planning and implementing a variety of recreational and developmental activities. Responsibilities include maintaining regular communication with students, parents, school staff and colleagues, organising transportation for student activities, administering medication according to approved guidelines, and maintaining accurate records relating to student movements, behaviour, health and pastoral care.
In addition, the Boarding Supervisor contributes to the wider college community by attending college functions, orientation events and promotional activities. The role requires adherence to the Public Sector Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct, participation in professional learning to maintain relevant knowledge, and compliance with legislative requirements including mandatory reporting of child abuse. The position supports the college’s commitment to providing high-quality care and positive role modelling to assist students in reaching their full potential.

Eligibility
To work with us, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
- obtain or hold (and maintain) a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role as required by the Department
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision Making within six months of commencement of employment
- work according to rostered hours which may include nights, weekends and public holidays
- obtain (prior to first rostered shift working with students) and maintain a current:
o First Aid Certificate – Provide CPR (HLTAID009); and
o First Aid Certificate – Provide First Aid (HLTAID011); - within six months of commencement of employment obtain and maintain a current:
o LR Class Driver’s Licence and a Passenger Transport Driver (PTD) authorisation
o Aquatic Rescue for Group lll Pool Award*
o Surf Rescue Certificate* - obtain a Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care (CHC42021) within six months of commencement of employment.
*Dependent on operational requirements as determined by College Manager.
