Role Description/Criteria
Role Description:
• Assist students on an individual or group basis in specific learning areas and programs as directed by student PLPs and/or the class teacher
• Maintain records of student observation and student progress
• Help maintain a positive learning environment for students
• Liaise with teachers in the first instance and the Learning Diversity Leader
• Attend and participate in Parent Support Group meetings for funded students where appropriate
• Attend to the first aid needs of students during break times as per the first aid duty roster
• Adhere to school policies and procedures
• Pursue and participate in professional learning: school based, systemic, regional and other sourced programs
• Attend school ESO meetings (held within working hours)
• Work collaboratively to support and contribute to the building of a professional learning culture
The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the school’s Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement, ensuring that every student experiences equity and excellence in their learning.
Requirements:
- have knowledge and skills suited to working with students with diverse needs (recent experience and/or qualification in this area required) Pre-service teachers currently enrolled in an education course are also highly encouraged to apply.
- demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to providing a safe environment for children.
- be dedicated to catering for the individual needs of students in a school wide positive behaviour for learning environment.
- be committed to building authentic relationships with all children, families and staff.
- committed to upholding the St John XXIII Primary School Child Safety Policy, Code of Conduct and other policies relevant to Ministerial Order 870.
- Hold a current Working with Children Check and National Police Check
This is a fixed term position until January 2027. Work hours are from 8.50 am to 1.45 pm - Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Amendments to these hours may be considered for the right applicant.
Salary is based on experience in accordance with the Education Support scale of the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 (CEMEA)
