Working with a range of stakeholders, including Instrumental Music teachers/instructors, school leaders, the regional music team, corporate staff and external organisations, the successful candidate will deliver a curriculum-aligned range of programs that enhance opportunities for student engagement and learning and teacher capability development.
The regional Head of Department (Curriculum) reports directly to the Regional Music Coordinator.
The role can be based at any Darling Downs South West region school with travel to schools and regional offices within the Darling Downs South West Region as appropriate within the context of the role.
Applicants should have education qualifications, and experience in delivering the Queensland Instrument Music Curriculum is highly desirable.
The role includes a 0.4 FTE instrumental music teaching component.
As the Head of Department Curriculum (Instrumental Music), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- The delivery of cluster and regional events which align with curriculum and program delivery to enhance student outcomes and provide opportunities to develop the quality of teaching and learning within the Department's Instrumental Music program
- The development of services, programs and events to support schools and teachers to respond to local needs and contexts
- Reviewing and reporting using relevant data, on the effectiveness of programs to stakeholders, including schools and the region
- Developing recommendations for future programs and events to enhance student outcomes and build teacher capability
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.

The successful candidate will have
- Knowledge and experience in the delivery of educational programs and events
- Experience and/or comprehensive knowledge of the Queensland Instrumental Music program and curriculum
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and programs with a large variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to effectively manage time and people to deliver successful outcomes
