An opportunity exists at Wilsonton State High School for an energetic and relational leader who is passionate about curriculum, people and impact. As Head of Department - English you will be someone who thrives on building strong, connected teams and takes pride in developing others to achieve their best. We are seeking a leader who sets clear, high expectations while creating the conditions for both students and staff to succeed. You will bring a strategic, future-focused mindset and the ability to lead with clarity, purpose and care across a dynamic department of committed staff. This is a temporary full-time position until 18 September 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
