EOI - Deputy Principal - Balaclava State School

We are seeking a dynamic Deputy Principal to join our team at Balaclava State School, for a temporary full-time position until 26 June 2026, unless otherwise determined. In this pivotal role you will assist the Principal in the strategic direction and management of the school, championing student achievement, staff development, and community engagement. About Us:
Balaclava State School is a Prep to Year 6 primary school located in the centre of Cairns. Our students are drawn primarily from the surrounding residential suburbs of the local area. We work to continually foster positive relationships with our families, local businesses, surrounding schools, clubs and professional associations. Our commitment is to give our students a strong start to education through creating a learning environment in which each child can thrive and become an independent, creative and connected learner.

About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Support the Principal in leading the school community to develop and commit to a shared vision that prioritises quality learning outcomes for all students, and act in the role when required.
- Demonstrate ethical, values-based leadership while embedding socially just practices into everyday school operations.
- Maintain high expectations for both student achievement and staff performance.
- Engage in continuous professional learning and foster strong partnerships with parents, community groups, government agencies, and industry.
- Apply strategic, forward-thinking leadership by understanding relevant legislation and policies and effectively managing resources to achieve school goals.
