This is a permanent full-time position commencing July 2026

The branch supports the Department of Education’s strategic commitment to ensuring every student from Kindergarten to Year 12 has access to high-quality education, underpinned by excellence in teaching and leadership. As part of Statewide Services, it delivers targeted support and services to schools, with a focus on improving outcomes for students and communities with the greatest need, while also contributing to system-wide strategy and policy development.

Professional Capability leads the development of workforce expertise by strengthening teaching and leadership practice across the system. It builds professional capability through the design and delivery of initiatives, resources, and learning opportunities that enable educators and leaders to improve student achievement and respond effectively to evolving educational needs.

The ideal candidate will be someone who understands the supports required for students with disability to participate in the full school experience and achieve success. A key component of the role is supporting schools to understand and navigate the processes through which resources are allocated, including the allocation of resources to schools through the Individual Disability Allocation.

The Role

The successful applicant will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects and initiatives to address current and emerging educational needs. Contributes to whole-school improvement by influencing strategies that enhance teaching and learning quality, while supporting the development of system-wide initiatives, resources, and professional learning to build workforce capability.

Provides research and analytical expertise by collecting, interpreting, and applying data to inform policy, programs, and decision-making. Assists in preparing reports, briefings, and documentation, while ensuring alignment of policies, resources, and services to improve student outcomes across the system.

You will collaborate across teams, business units, and with internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated services and student support initiatives. Engages in culturally responsive and context-specific practices, using effective consultation and negotiation to build strong partnerships and support diverse school communities.
