Southern River College (SRC) is seeking a highly effective, vibrant and innovative Head of Learning Area (HoLA) – Music to lead our Inspire Music program for years 7 - 12.

The Role
The successful applicant will ideally possess a dynamic and exceptional leadership approach coupled with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work alongside students, teachers, parents and the community to promote our college vision and values. They must be able drive their vision, work as part of a team and possess high levels of professional conduct, communication and integrity.
The successful applicant will have strong professional and interpersonal skills and will be able to add value to our collaborative Arts team at the school in their lead role as HoLA - Music. As the successful applicant you will be able to commit to supporting student achievement through the continued development of innovative music programs the inspire student learning.
As the successful applicant you will be able to use student data to foster conversations, building a culture of professional collaboration, self-evaluation and reflection across the school that drives high quality teaching and learning. Building and fostering a collaborative music network with our feeder primary schools, is an essential part of the role.
A key feature of the role is creativity: establishing after school bands, working closely with IMMS, selecting students for the Inspire program, showcasing music for special events ie: assemblies, celebration ceremonies and local events. This adds to the fabric of SRC and our student focus approach.
As Head of Department – Music, the ideal candidate will continue to develop curriculum, resource and teacher leadership, and be able to deliver quality teaching, learning and assessment programs that align with the Western Australian Curriculum and Senior Secondary WACE courses. The successful applicant will reflect and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential in our Inspire Music program.

- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
